Will MG work with whole house line?

I have a specific question about connecting my entire home into the jack...
Since I currently get my telephone service from my TV cable company using a provided telephony modem for my service, it will be relatively easy to switch the plug from the entire line for my entire house to the MagicJack using the standard clip-in connector.
Specifically my question is...Will the MagicJack support several plugged in extensions and a 3 phone cordless phone system with no loss of quality? (Only one or two phones will be in use at any given time)

With that being said, there is a wealth of information on this, although it has been quite some time since I've seen anything posted.

I wish I could be of more help, but I remember some really excellent technical posts on how to accomplish this but that's all. Good luck!

Maybe some folks who have done this will see your request. From what I remember, it's very doable and seemed to worked well.

Search these forums for REN (ringer equivalent number). MJ won't be able to ring a lot of ringers especially old fashioned mechanical ringers. There are posts, if you run into problems, suggesting you unplug all your phones then plug them back in one by one to see which is the offending phone that messes up the ringing or introduces hum or other problems. Tons of info on your question in these forums.

So far, I haven't had much luck with trying to do this (i.e. drive the house wiring with MJ). Some report success, but perhaps our house is a bit bigger. I can't even successfully drive the house wiring plus only one phone (a phone that when connected directly, works fine).

BTW, I *can* successfully drive our house wiring using an Xlink box.

There are ways of "amplifying" the MJ's driving ability...

Originally i had Comcast Digital Voice and all they did was check to make sure the line from att was cut and then they just plugged the cable modem into the RJ-11 outlet, more or less once i got rid of that modem and their service i did the same thing with Magic Jack and it's worked fine, i would like to mention that in order for this to work your house needs to be wired and connected internally and the line from your house to ATT/Bellsouth/Whoever needs to be cut. I have Vtech wireless phones all over the house plugged in and it seems to work for me, though as it's been said if you're using an older phone it may be limited to just the magic jack dongle itself.

I'm running 4 phones with MJ as my home line in my house. I have a line coming out of my MJ USB device going into a duplex jack plugged into my phone jack where my PC is located. Works like a champ from the second floor down to the basement phone jack.

1: You must disconnect everything from the lines,especially any connections to Ma-Bell/Telephone Co.

2: Disconnect all phones and verify open between all lines with an ohm meter.

3: Check red & green or blue & blue white pair for DC power around 26-28 volts,if you detect any voltage or short do not connect your MJ as it will malfunction or fry please go back to step #1.

4: Connect MJ to wall phone jack with good quality phone cord and test at first with a known low ring number phone that works well when plugged directly into the MJ.

5: If you hear a hum goto step #1,If you hear nothing check connections,If it works normal you can add up to three more low ring number phones.
