Cannot set it up in Windows 7 x64, Version 6.1, Build 7600!!

My parents bought this device and shipped it to me from the US. I'm currently in India studying medicine in college for the next 4 years and thought it would be a great idea to try to use this magicJack to call back home at very little in terms of cost.

I plugged the device in, as suggested by the box, and let Windows 7 install the device drivers. Lo-and-behold I plug in a phone and dial away, but get nothing but a dial tone.

So I get annoyed and try to contact magicJack's technical support and end up talking to them for HOURS to no avail. At one point, one of the chicks gave me an attitude because I explained that I followed every step numerous times with numerous technicians.

Basically, I had to format my magicJack, kill my antivirus/firewall, install a Windows 7 special update, tried the XP/Vista upgrade, tried clicking on the CD which never downloaded the software on my computer, and most likely tried everything technical support could throw at me. Plugging the device into different USB ports, trying the USB extender, waiting a set amount of time and then plugging the device back in.

I'm at a loss at this point. I can't get this thing to work at all and my parents paid good money for it. The technical support has been useless up to this point and I tried to search for answers myself. I found myself looking at a work-around that seems only good for people who have the service already registered.

Others have stated that they didn't have any problem and their units installed onto their computer immediately even in spite of having Windows 7 as I've seen posted on the internet.

Can someone suggest an answer to this problem that will fix it once and for all?
