Can not get remote Uniden phones to work

I have a Uniden base unit with a couple of wireless units that I used to use with my conventional phone. I have the base plugged in to the MJ and it works, but the wireless units do not. What do I need to do?

We're going to need some more information to help you out.


Specifically, what do you mean by "it works" when you have the base plugged into the MJ? Does it have a handset corded to the base unit that works?

In what way do the wireless units not work?

Also, can you otherwise make and receive calls when either using another phone or the soft phone?

The base unit phone is wireless, and it will work fine with both inbound and outbound calls. The other wireless handsets will not even get a dial tone, or light up the display when I try to use them.

This seems to exonerate your MJ of any responsibility for your problems.

It sounds like you need to re-register the remote handsets to the base station. You'll have to either dig out the manual, or search Uniden's website for the manual for your model. The manual will show you the steps for your particular phone. Sometimes, the steps can be counter-intuitive, so the manual helps. Otherwise, you could just try playing around with the setup menu on your phone.

The reason for registering a remote to the base station, is to prevent the tricks from the old days when people could drive around town looking for houses with the same model phone, and either listen to your calls, or make their own calls off of your line. By registering, your remotes gain the access code for your base station.

It sounds like you need to re-register the remote handsets to the base station.

This was a new one to me when I bought my Uniden Dect 6.0. I was only using the base station and accompanying handset and then decided to begin using the second handset that came with it.

Although I didn't immediately know it had to be registered, it seems like there was a message and it was pretty self-explanatory.

Okay, I almost hate to admit what the problem was, but since you guys were nice enough to get me headed in the right direction I owe it to you.

What I failed to mention, we had just been moved to this location, and what I didn't know was that the movers had unplugged the batteries in 3 of the 4 handsets, leaving only the base set plugged in.

I started searching in more detail on the registering portion after reading the post, and realized that I should be seeing something pop up on the screen. After seeing nothing, I did the obvious and opened the back up realizing then that the battery had been unplugged.
