So none of the "solutions" I'm reading about seem to work... I have NO CLUE what MJMD5 is - and all I know is I have an iPhone - I used a SIP client (siphon) before June - and it worked with my MagicJack -- NOW IT DOES NOT.
is there ANY solution? A WORKING SOLUTION?
Thank you in advance for taking the time to contribute and answer. THANK YOU.

Re: Possible to use MAGICJACK on iPhone?
Early June this year MJ complicated the SIP registration process to require a unique calculation for each client. Several solutions were crafted by good folks here on the forum for routines that would calculate on either a PC platform, a Linux platform or within custom router firmware environments such as Tomato and DD-WRT.Toaster wrote:So none of the "solutions" I'm reading about seem to work... Probably easiest is to find a local windows PC to run mmjd5, alternatively see if your router is supported by Tomato or DD-WRT.
OR
you could always get an account with one of the many ITSPs that gladly hand out working SIP credentials on a PAYG basis
Good luck

I would think MJMD5 IS the solution. You run the proxy on a local PC and point your Siphon credentials to your PC's IP (192.168.x.x) server address. This at least allows your Iphone to work on your Iphone/Ipod Touch in your home.Toaster wrote:

As for your local Starbucks, Coffee Bean, B&N Bookstore, or any other Wifi hotspot, your SOL my friend.

Re: Possible to use MAGICJACK on iPhone?
Tonight (well EARLY this morning to be exact), I was able to get MagicJack working on my iPod Touch 3rd Gen.Toaster wrote:

First, I obtained my credentials using SIP Password Finder 2.2 from the MagicJack Hacks website. The website has directions on how to use the program.
Second, the program does not provide the proxy information which will be necessary, but by looking through this forum I found the proxy information is in the form of proxy1.<proxy city>.talk4free.com:5070.
Third, I installed Fring from the AppStore. It's not necessary to Jailbreak your iPhone/iPod Touch.
Fourth, I registered for a free Fring account.
Last, once logged into my Fring account, I selected SIP, entered my credentials from step 1, and the proxy address from step 2.
I tested by calling my home number and it worked like a charm.
What are you, a Magicjack employee plant?synchron wrote:And when did you purchase your MJ? Recent MJ's are currently immune to the new SIP authentication but it is suspected that in due time, these MJ's will also require some from of MJMD5 authenticity.
Enjoy your Fring while it lasts.....

From the way things are changing, I would suspect that YMAX/MJ is getting more lenient with regards to the MJ devices. I'm hoping that means BYOD ATA service for 2010!
