Magic Jack static resolution for some

Here's the long and short of it. I discovered recently that our DECT cordless phones were causing a lot of static in magic jack. We originally had 5.8ghz phones that worked flawlessly with magic jack but switched to DECT phones thinking we were upgrading boy were we wrong. Not only did our phones cause static with magic jack but they also caused our wireless signal inside our house to drop. I thought DECT phones were created to not interfere with wireless. As soon as we disconnected our DECT phones took batteries out and unplugged stations so there isn't any sort of transmission going the static stopped like magic lol. Our 5.8ghz cordless phones work flawless with magic jack now and we couldn't be happier. We got the DECT phones cause of the nice big LCD screen. I guess we will have to suffer with our little screens on our 5.8ghz phones. Hope this helps some. By the way DECT runs off of 1.9ghz wireless runs off 2.4ghz which is too close to be happy together. If you have wireless you need a 5.8ghz phone.

Proximity of phone base unit to router and modem can make a big difference also. RF signal strength and possible interference varies logarithmically by distance. So physical separation is your friend.

Also keep in mind that cords can act as antennae so keeping the phone base unit especially away from them will help.
