This is self explanatory. Can anything be done to improve transmission and reception?

Yes, there are a lot of things you can do so search this forum for lots of suggestions (e.g., increase process priority, QoS routers, dedicated PCs, change proxy servers, use a wired connection between your PC and router, try changing telephones).
