Using MJ on a wireless card ???

Hi, is it possible to use magicJack on a PC with a wireless network card instead of using an on board Ethernet connection ? If so Please point me in the right direction. Thanks, HammerHeadHank

Some people have had success with wireless some have not. It is a crap shoot at best. Lag time, noise can all cause problems. Also if you are using a 2.4mhz cordless phone it too can interact with your wireless setup.

Hi, you don't have to do anything special to use MJ over a wifi connection. I do that in hotels. But know that the call quality won't be as good as when you have a wired connection to the Internet. Just try it and see how MJ sounds. If the call quality is awful, post what you've tried and the results. Lots of people here who can help--also do a search for your symptoms. Likely you aren't the first person to have the problem and its been discussed at length in these forums.

I used a thin client computer with a wireless card for about 2 months. Then for no apparent reason, call quality deteriorated. Connected the computer via hardwire to the router and call quality was good again with no other changes.

My conclusion: try it wireless and if it works OK, then leave it that way. Otherwise, use an Ethernet cable.

I've also used a wireless connection at hotels with another computer. Call quality seems to depend upon how many other guests are on-line at the time. Calls in the evening can be tolerable or worse, but the same setup used in the morning when fewer people are on-line can be good.
