A strange problem

Post by Msradell »

I have an interesting problem using magicJack. I want to be able to dial in to my alarm system to make changes, since it is using my land line I have to call in from another line. I have the modem from my laptop hooked into the phone jack of the magicJack. I have no problem calling into the alarm system and connecting. The problem is immediately after the connection is made magicJack ends the call. The connection itself is very slow (300 baud) and if I listen to it it sounds like a modem. Does anyone have any ideas how to keep magicJack from hanging up?

What terminal program are you using to initiate and control the call?
Good Luck

Does this proggy recognize/identify your modem specifically?
How do you know the comm rate is 300 baud?

At that low comm rate there is no need you any type of special handshake or protocol. It should just work...
