Use magic jack with google voice to save cell phone minutes?
I have magic jack and I love it when it works. I was wondering if I can use google voice with magic jack and my cell phone to save my minutes. I have three cell phones and 1000 minutes and keep going over my minutes. I know I can use google voice and a calling plan like my circle or something to save minutes by rerouting the call through google voice, but Im wondering if I can do this with magic jack and google voice. This sounds confusing I know . Anyone know how it would work?

Well, you could always set Google Voice up to ring your Magic Jack and your cell phone. When people call your Google Voice number, you can answer the phone plugged into your Magic Jack and save cell minutes that way.micmarie wrote:I have magic jack and I love it when it works. That's what I do, but it has a couple of drawbacks... People will be calling your Google Voice number, but there's no way (AFAIK) to make your Google Voice number appear on their caller ID. So if they save that as your number, they won't recognize the number that pops up on their caller ID when you call. (Unless you give them all 3 numbers, which most people don't want to deal with.)
The other issue is voicemail. Usually my cell phone VM picks up, which is what I want. Sometimes MJ voicemail gets it though, and sometimes Google Voice gets it. Google isn't so bad (it'll even try to transcribe the VM and send you a text message), but MJ voicemail stinks.
Or, if you have smart phone with wifi, go to the Google Voice website and make your calls that way when you're near a hotspot. That should work, too.
