This IS good news. I wish we'd have heard it from Dan's website instead of MSN but HEY! I'll take good news from where ever I can get it!

Also very interesting from that article:
"Borislow plans to release a second plug-in gadget later this year that will allow cell phone users to make calls without using their minutes as long as they're within range of the device." How's THAT gonna work?

I'd be interested in the software, if I'd still be allowed to use my hardware on the same number (for when i travel).The only other question I'd have would be where would you plug your phone in???

Yeah, I had the same question/thought too, plus I was wondering if the software only version would work on the low power Thin Clients I've read about on this forum.

Mainly though, I was looking at the MSN news article as a hopeful indicator of longevity for the MJ company. All that network support hardware has gotta be maintained...not to mention paying all the software codewriters and hardware designers that have obviously been busy for the past few months. I've only been using my MJ for a couple months now but it still amazes me this thing is as cheap as it is, considering all it does. Then there's NetTalk's TK6000 offering a LIFETIME of calling for one time payment of 100 bucks. Nothing short of amazing.

I MUST be missing something. I mean, where is all the money for these two devices coming from? How is either company ever gonna turn a profit?

I'm gonna enjoy this ride for as long as it lasts. Hell, I'm tempted to buy a second TK6000 as a spare......just to get in on their limited time "Free for a Lifetime" offer.

He is going to magically train the GSM cell signal to respect the bounds of your property. That way he will not intrude on the spectrum that ATT & Tmobile have paid billions to rent from the FCC.
IOW, don't hold your breath unless Dan has plans to create a new GSM wireless carrier.
Little known fact...Dan's femtocell only works with GSM networks. So sorry Sprint/VZW customers...

A week signal may do just that .

Little known fact...Dan's femtocell only works with GSM networks.

GSM is the future. The only good reason to use CDMA is the fact that GSM does not allow for smooth analog transitions. But the big guys do not want to maintain analog.
Once the 4G is here wide scale, CDMA is gone.

Sorry cell14, but GSM is already history. WCDMA IS the technology used in all the 3G networks like AT&T's currently, and the Europeans, of all people, are proposing CDMA as the base technology for the LTE 4G standard being developed right now for Europe and North America. It could be argued that 4G is neither GSM nor CDMA, but it is certainly NOT GSM.

GSM is history.

It is certainly not CDMA either.
To call LTE a 4G is questionable as well. And WCDMA is not CDMA.
There is a confusion of confusions out there with all the abbreviations and accompanying hypes.
One thing is sure that a uniform, truly Global Standard is the future, even if it is not the today's 2G GSM.
