Post by Majormax69 »

I have hooked up the MJ and things are going Ok

Except when I call someone, it displays some old name of someone like "Jack Webb",

How do I change it to say my name?
Thanks

I don't know of any phone carriers (POTS, cell, VOIP) that offer calling name display. Simply because no one wants to pay for the feature even Calling Name display feature was available about 10 years ago. MJ does not send the name together with phone number as caller-ID. I would check with the called party to see if he/she stores some phone number matching (usually the last 7 digits) your number in the his/her phone's memory.

Actually, there are at least a handful of VOIP providers that offer Caller ID with name (CNAM). You apparently have been assigned a DID that was previously used by someone else. The name associated with the caller ID # is entered in one or more databases accross the country. If you do nothing, it may fix itself in a few weeks. You can try telling tech support the problem, but good luck finding one that understands what you're talking about.

This is one of the issues when only some carriers support CNAM, database error due to slow updating. Carriers who do not offer CNAM don't have to pay for CNAM database lookup service.
