Sounding like a native american doing a war chant.

Post by Teacher Jeff »

Greetings from the turbulent land of smiles aka Thailand.

I had a friend buy a magic jack for me stateside and ship it to thailand where I teach. As my title would suggest I am having audio problems with my Magic Jack and I have spent untold amount of hours with customer support to try to find a fix for it. However, the audio is typically crystal clear on my end.

The only way that I can connect to the internet is via the wireless route. The router is located in another house on the church compound where I reside so a direct connection is not possible.

Steps that I have taken with customer support:
[/i]

1: configured ports 5060 and 5070
2: bought an externally powered usb hub
3: set the magic jack priority on high (should i set it on realtime?)
4: installed windows media player 11
5: downloaded the latest dividx codecs
6: selected background services
7: uninstalled and installed magic jack numerous of times with upgrades
8: scan computer for viruses and trojans. I have Kaspersky av and I have use HouseCall on the trend micro site.
9: performed numerious speed test via http://www.speedtest.net. Results are as follows: Ping: 91 ms Download: 15.71 Ms/s Upload 0.48 Ms/s Results are typically better later in the evening and at night.
10: inherited a few more gray hairs. Thanks Magic Jack. :evil:

I searched this forum and found that this is a common problem. These two threads have been somewhat helpful but I simply lack the technical knowledge. http://www.phoneservicesupport.com/outg ... t8758.html and http://www.phoneservicesupport.com/voic ... t3803.html

My computer stats are as follows

* Acer Aspire 5738ZG
* Windows XP SP3 (32 bit)
* 4 gigs of ram
* Pentium(R) duel core CPU 4400 @ 2.20 GHz
* Router Thomson ST536 (ST = speed touch)

Hopefully someone can help me out.
