audio device not found problem

I am running xp pro, have had MJ for 5 months. It ran fine for 3 months, at the last 2 months, on every single weekend, it would give a "audio device not found" error, and no in/out calls. It would recover most of the time if I reboot, or restart all modem.router/pc, and sometimes it would not recover by my actions, but it fixed itself in a couple of days.

When the problem occurs, the voulme/headset menu would have the headset checked, and I could not check the phone option.

Thec support asked my to reboot everytime this happens. But I am tired of the reboot. Why this happens at one day when it was working fine on the prior day, whithout any change on the machine?

Any help???

When the problem occurs the next time take note of all of the programs you have open and then go to Control panel>Sounds and Audio Devices and see what is selected. Might want to go ahead and check the box to use the default audio device also.

There are a host of things that can cause this problem
