I've been using MJ for a little over a month and considering that I don't use my landline phone very much, I think it is a good deal, despite some of the problems I've had.
One of the issues is that my computer will not reboot or shutdown. It gets to the point that it has logged off the user and saved the settings, but then hangs on rebooting or shutting down. I end up having to hit the power button to turn off the computer. I am not using the dongle that came with the MJ and it is plugged into a rear USB hub. I've also removed the MJ hardware and then tried shutting down my computer, but it still hangs.
I am running Windows XP Service Pack 2 with 2.5GB of RAM. My internet is A&T DSL d/l 3.0Mbps and u/l 0.31Mbps.
I've searched the forums and can't find anyone else having this problem.
I would appreciate any advice anyone has. Thanks a bunch!

I am confused, you say you are NOT using the MJ dongle, yet it is plugged into a rear USB Port?? Plus you also say you have been using the MJ for a month. So what is it? If it is NOT plugged into your PC then it seems unlikely it is a MJ problem ( to be sure it is not MJ software related do a search on the MJ site for the MJ remover and run it, then see what happens).
IF it is an XP problem ( yes a few people have XP shut down problems) you are in the wrong forum
Try here instead and look under the XP section. You maye even want to post your problem AFTER you do a search for it first.

Hi Joe, thanks for the quick reply. Sorry for the confusion. I mean I am not using the USB extension that came with MJ.
As for the reboot problem, it started right after I installed the MJ software. I can't think of anything else that would have been done to the desktop to cause the issue. I will run the MJ un-installer later today to verify, however.
Thank you again,
Eric

There are several things that could cause this including a virus (or similar) or a corrupted/conflicting device driver. You can try the following:
1. For the purposes of troubleshooting, UNPLUG any and all USB devices from your computer (except for the keyboard and mouse).
2. Power down your computer.
3. Restart it in SAFE MODE (usually done by pressing F2 or F8 while it is booting).
4. Go to Start/All Programs/Accessories/System Tools/System Restore and select a date to restore your computer back that is a few days BEFORE you believe the problem started.
5. After your computer reboots after the System Restore, try restarting your computer again to see if the problem has been sorted (at least without any extra USB devices plugged in).
6. Once the issue appears to have been sorted, plug back in the USB devices one by one and re-test restarting your computer after each one. If the problem by some chance re-occurs after plugging back in one of them, that particular device driver is corrupted and needs to be corrected.
Good luck. I hope you are able to get your computer issue sorted...

Good points. One other thing to try after all that, if it doesnt work of course.
Is to go into device manager and delete ALL USB entries ( try to save the keyboard and mouse for last). Reboot and then XP will re-installt the USB drivers. Maybe one got corrupted. I had a problem wrinting to a thumb drive that always worked before but now I could not write to it, this fixed it.
One other thing, you dont happen to have it set in your BIOS to boot from USB do you? If so the MJ will stop your PC from booting..
