Hey guys,
I am trying to use my wife's MagicJack on my own computer (it works fine on her machine with both XP and 7).
When I plug it in, the blue light comes on and stays on, but the app doesn't start. After a minute or so (very slow), I can see the device under My Computer and I can browse the files on it, but it is very, very slow.
It's plugged directly in to a USB port on the computer. I've tried them all. I went through all that firmware upgrade crap with the support. I would be so happy to hear about any ideas the community might have.
Thanks!
Windows recognizes MJ but app doesn't start & access is

I've inferred that you aren't using the extension cable that comes with MJ, so that's good.
Have you tried a powered USB hub?

Power limitations of certain manufacturers' usb ports is the usual suspect for the symptoms you've provided.jfoster wrote:Actually, I'm using the extension cable. Does that matter? When I said it was connected directly, I meant that I'm not using a hub. Don't have a powered hub. Could the problem be related to current levels? Yeah, not using the cable isn't making a difference, unfortunately. Thanks for the suggestion.
You said you've tried all the usb ports on your computer to no avail, so you may have to resort to the hub.
Many people have reported sucess using a powered usb hub.
