Today, my MJ just decided not to startup.
So I went through about 8 hours worth of forum browsing and even chatted with a tech from MJ and it's still not fixed.
MJ will not start when the computer does, even though it has the startup file active and loaded. It will not load the softphone, or allow use of the regular telephone either. I have to go through my files to my ug000000 file located in my appdata > roaming etc for this program to run at all.
I have tried formatting the "drive" And I tried reinstalling the new software I downloaded from them, but it won't take it. It says it's updating, then disappears and ... nothing.
Right now my "computer" area shows two drives related to MJ:
One drive, where my computer thinks it's a cd rom drive.
And the other, that thinks its a removable disc.
Ive tried everything, and have no idea what to do now.
MJ will not start, and I have to use "setup" to ru

Question #1: Did it ever work?
Question #2: What changes have you made to your computer?
Question #3: If you made any changes (or even if you didn't) have you thought about rolling back your operating system to a date when MJ did work?
Question #4: Have you tried installing this MJ on a different computer?

Yes, it use to work perfectly fine. Now I have to go into the roaming file and use setup to even get the softphone to startup. Without it, when I pick up my phone, it has a dialtone, but won't call any number.hsweiss wrote:Question #1: Did it ever work?

I have made zero changes to the OS. And rolling back without anything new added is just shooting in the dark. MJ works fine on other operating systems, this is the only win 7 pc I have. I have uninstalled and reinstalled this program, and formatted, and reformatted. I have used mjremover (doesnt do anything btw) and tried using mjrecovery(says no device found), as well as using the upgrade file via their website.
I've contacted their "support team" which is nothing more than some retard giving the same crap information that you find right on their forums. None of this works. Their suggestion is to rig it like I have already been doing using the setup file in my roaming folder.

I had something similar but on XP.. maybe something similar... check the startup entry with Startup Control Panel...
http://www.mlin.net/StartupCPL.shtml
On mine it had quotes around the startup entry for the cdloader. (the only startup entry to have them) so i removed them. and voila!
also you can try manualy starting the softphone from DOS..
drive:\path to mjusbsp}\mjusbsp\magicJack.exe" /foreground /scf _magicJackPersonalDataRoot "{usb drive:}\magicJack"
Example: C:\Documents and Settings\NAME\Application Data\mjusbsp\magicjack.exe /foreground /lf startlog.txt /scf _magicJackPersonalDataRoot "{M:}\magicJack"
if nothing else you get a logfile to help you out maybe with support
Hope this helps
