Re-registering Majic jack

I bought a new Majicgjack. I registered it and a number was assigned. Is there a way to make it new again and re-register with a new number instead of changing the number. Any tips would be nice.

No way that I know of.

Wouldn't that be quite the scam on MJ to save 5 whole bucks?

Nope. You can either change the number one time from your my.magicjack.com account or buy another MJ and register that with a different number. I wasn't tickled with the original number I got with my first MJ eight months ago, but I've gotten used to it.

There is a program called rebuild_mj floating around that can rewrite the serial number on MJ.

Remember to run with the -f flag to set the serial number.

Usage: updateIso [-a/f] [iso_image_name]
	-a : rebuild all based on current serial number
	-f : rebuild all based on newly-assigned serial number
	default iso image file name is "cd.iso"

Also, remember that the serial number will read from the local.dat file by default.

This file must be in the format of:

where YOURSERIALNUMBER is your new serial number.
