Audio Drop Outs Every Second

Post by charliedassaro »

I connected the MJ to my PC and it took about 10 minutes to load. Once it did the Audio Dropped out every second on the calls. Tried it on my Laptop(Vista) and it loaded in seconds and audio was perfect. Spent over 10 hours chatting with MJ support and no fix. Took my PC to my guy and he supposedly got it working. He called me from his shop using my PC & MJ and it sounded fine. He delivered my PC today and the audio is still dropping out every second. MJ loads in seconds but calls still have dropouts. I'm runnnig Windows 7. Any ideas? It has to be a setting but over 10 hours of chat with MJ tech support and I'm nowhere besides the MJ loading like it should.

HELP PLEASE!!!

Sounds like your PC.
In my experience, MJ support was very helpful and their solutions work.
So, if you spent 10 hrs with them (which is hard to believe) and NOTHING worked, it may be something with your PC/internet connection.
I couldn't tell you what, though.

Definitely my PC but internet connection is a solid 9-10 Mb download and .85-.95 Mb upload. Has to be a setting.

Questions about your home setup. When you have dropouts on your desktop but it works fine on your laptop - are both machines connected to your router exactly the same? In other words, do you have a firewall in place for one but not the other? Do you have a wireless connection for one and not the other? Are you using a cordless phone with one but a corded phone with the other? This all presupposes that in fact you are testing from the same location and not testing one from home and one from your office?

When first installed I had a Cable Modem. CAT5 out of modem to Desktop. Started with drop outs and wouldn't load for over 10 minutes. Took CAT5 cable out of PC and directly into Laptop worked perfect.

Now I installed a wireless router. Cable modem into Wireless router, wireless router to PC. Laptop operating wireless and it still works perfect.

The first thing I'd do is take it back to "my PC guy" who said it was working and ask him what he did - which got "undid" after you took it home. Beyond that, you might check your PC to make sure you don't have any virus' or bots or trojans on it. If you have the original installation disks, you might also think about a fresh install. Or you might go onto ebay and buy an old PIII with WinXP and use it as a dedicated MJ box and don't worry about it anymore.

Any chance your desktop is running a processor or Internet intensive program in the background? That could affect the processing of MJ data. Start Task Manager to see if there's something running. See if you can shut down all other programs on the desktop. You might be able to isolate the culprit.

My CPU Usage is between 25-30% when my computer is idle. Can't figuring out what's running that is making that so high.

Try security task manager to identify all running processes
