MagicJack / Sleep / Hibernate
It appears that MagicJack doesn't work if the PC goes to sleep or hibernates. If that's the case, Do I need to not allow my computer top sleep? Is there a workaround? Also, when I wake up my PC, I cannot shut down MagicJack in order to restart it. Basically, it freezes my computer when I try this. Is there a workaround for this? Even when I shut it down using the Task Manager, it won't restart unless I reboot my PC. Workaround for this?

I am wondering the same thing.Megamixer56 wrote:How the heck do you even GET your PC to go in sleep mode with MJ running? I have to stop it to put mine to sleep.
I have win7 and it will not do that (even though I never do like my PC to sleep, hib, or shut down on its on).
When I shut down or restart it has to wait for magicjack or I have to force restart.
Maybe with older computers it's not like that? I don't know.
I have a Advent DHE X22 multi media PC and is almost permanently in sleep mode cept for when I want to watch a movie Ive downloaded and my majic jack works fine in sleep mode for incoming & outgoing calls. but Im unable to put the PC into sleep mode from the start menu I can only do it with the PC remote control.

Your BIOS will probably include an opening screen category named something like "Power Management" - that's the section which would include the drive settings mentioned by the previous poster ... you can also look in Windows' Control Panel for a similarly named section which will show the power-saving sequence which usually goes Screen Saver >Monitor low power >Hard drive spin-down in order of implementation after inactivity timeoutNisko1 wrote:How can I tell if my BIOS supports the hard drive being down - but the PC can be awakened?
I am using MS Windows 7 Home Premium. Does MJ require specific power settings to run properly? If so, please tell me what they are. Does the hard drive have to run all the time? One poster suggested that I go to Device Manager>Universal Serial Bus controllers>then all the USB Root Hubs. For each hub, He told me to go to Properties>Power Management>then uncheck each box that reads: Allow the computer to turn off this device to save power. I did this - but when I went back to check the checkboxes, they were all checked again. Something in the OS must be changing them back. This shouldn't be (I should get a notice of some kind) - but it happens every time. While the boxes were checked (for a whole day), MJ seemed to be working OK.
Just a guess, but did you make the changes while logged in as administrator?Nisko1 wrote:I am using MS Windows 7 Home Premium. Does MJ require specific power settings to run properly? Oh - and in the above example, the hard drive, hibernate and standby should be set to "Never". I just happened to grab a screen shot where they were not set that way.
