Well, I don't know what you're running, but on my WIndows XP Pro system, I was able to change the drive letters under administration -> disk management. I changed the TigerJet thing to letter "P" (for Phone) and the fake CD drive to letter "O" (cause that was next to "P").

I stopped magicJack, did a "Safely Remove Hardware" on all of the removable devices (actually, I think that I did that before the disk management step above). I shutdown, removed the magicJack and rebooted.

Then I set my DVD-drive to be letter "V" (for "video").
Then I shutdown again and rebooted with the magicjack plugged back in.
It came up fine with C: P, O, and V drive letters, it all worked fine and has continued to do so for the last month or so...

You may need to try it a couple of times, it's picky about changing letters if it thinks something is using them. You may also have to try booting up in safe-mode to get it right - if you're having problems.

I ALWAYS move the CD or DVD drive(s) - as soon as possible on every system and every install/reinstall. That gets it out of the way, cause if you add or re-partition a disk, you're always going to get drive D: moving around all over the place and causing trouble.

I also re-letter all and all the partitions other than C and start them around G-J. That way I know where they are and again they are far enough away that adding a disk or partition (or several) won't screw up anything that's already there.

Likewise, I try to leave some room at the end of the alphabet also, as the default for when you map a folder to a drive letter is to start at Z (or the last available letter in the alphabet) and go backwards from there. So the second directory you map to a drive letter will map to "Y" by default and so on...

It also good to change the drive/partition label when you can to recall what it's for. As I'm using both Windows (mainly for magicJack) and Linux it's pretty crucial for me.

As of Xp. you can also mount drives into directories.
So you can have drive E; mounted into a directory (on drive C: or whatever) called data and access it that way.
It's handy for adding another drive if you're running out of room.
Find tge directory that's taking up the most space and move all of that stuff over to the new drive and re-mount it right back into the old C:\data directory.
This has been standard procedure in any Linux/Unix distribution since (at least) 1988 and I wouldn't be surprised if it goes back another ten years.

And, it's much safer than joining one or more drives into a larger logical volume (un-joining them is a bitch - and if one of the drives goes bad you lose the whole thing). Also standard on many OSes since 1984l (VMS).

It's also safer than adding drives to a pool unless you're running raid 5 at least.

I think that There's maybe one more method in Windows that I can't think of off-hand.

With Linux, I can mount both the Linux and Windows partitions by just specifying the partition/disk label and where I want it mounted -which is a lot more flexible and easier to keep track of - especially if you move drives around much...
