I used Gizmo off-and-on for nearly three years, but really started using it when it was supported by Grand Central (now Google Voice). The only problem I ever had with it was the payment system. My credits would disappear and every time I added more money to my account, I had to write to them after ...

I too find the call quality to be much better with an ATA rather than the dongle or a thin client. Initially, finding the password and configuring the ATA was kind of fun and I really liked saving money. In fact, I used the second line on my ATA for the Gizmo VOIP service since I could use my Gizmo ...

Pbishop,

Since you focus so much on the software solution, there are a couple of things that will make what you want difficult to implement even if were technically possible.

First, hacking the software would only be a short-term solution since MJ seems to push out new software revisions on a ...

Pbishop,

I don't know how much you use your phone, but another option is to utilize a VOIP company that allows you to use your own analog telephone adapter (ATA). I subscribe to both MJ and Gizmo5. The Gizmo5 allows me to use my own ATA, which I've written my own dial plan that will permit me to ...

You could try a VPN service such as GoTrusted (www.gotrusted.com). They charge $6/month, but their service permits you to create a VPN between your computer and the GoTrusted servers here in the states. I've never used them myself so I don't know how well they work or if it will work with MJ, but I ...

I've been reading this forum for about 8 months and I haven't heard of anyone directly being terminated for using an ATA. Magicjack in the past has simply made the password longer and more complex and finally encrypting it to discourage the use of ATAs. There seems to be a few people using them, but ...

Using MagicJack on the road

When traveling I have two different methods for using the MagicJack. One is to use a small headset I received a couple of years ago when I signed up for NetZero. It uses earbuds rather than the typical speakers a normal headset would have and a small microphone built into the wire rather than a boom ...

I created a batch file with two commands in it as follows:
tskill magicjack
tskill callerIDSpoof

Save the file as closemagicjack.bat and create a shortcut to it on your desktop.
Click on the shortcut and it closes both MagicJack and CallerIDSpoofer (if you use it) just as if you used Task Manager ...
