Good evening, GVTricks.

I don't believe it's a matter of trust. From my perspective, it's more a function of an unfinished book. Google Voice (GV) is certainly in development, but the worst thing likely to happen there is the onset of annoying advertisements somewhere (and hopefully with a buy-out option for folks who would rather not have the advertisements.)
With Gizmo5 (G5), the situation is quite a bit different. Not only is the product experimental (according to G5's own words), but they state that outbound calls routed through GV are capped at 20 minutes. That's hardly useful (well, at least to me anyway.)
GVTricks wrote:I can use my cell phone with a $30.00 unlimited locals and call anywhere one touch only. and there is a question for you, can you do that with MJ?'
That's a good question. Since we don't really know what magicJack considers fair use, I would have to say that the answer to your question is unknown. Skype states (in writing) that fair use is 10,000 minutes/month. My T-Mobile plan has 1,000 minutes/month and I'm pretty sure T-Mobile doesn't care how I use them. T-Mobile is offering me unlimited minutes/month for USD49.99/month. But, one good question is how does T-Mobile define
unlimited (since we now know that companies have apparently acquired the right to change the meanings of words in the English language from their typically-defined meanings.)
GVTricks wrote:Now we all know we can trust Google,
Whoa... I never said that I trust Google and I certainly don't. Google leaves a lot to be desired when it comes to respecting privacy. Google has made an effective science of collecting and correlating data on people. The jury on Google and privacy is still out and isn't likely to be in until someone, somewhere tries to obtain access to Google's datastore for some law enforcement purpose.
GVTricks wrote:and they offer you unlimited calls using your computer,
Well, no. Some eagle eye astutely discovered that Google Voice calls are capped at three hours. So, Google's definition of unlimited calls is some number of calls times three hours/call.
GVTricks wrote:so does MJ,
Wrong again. As stated previously, no one knows what magicJack considers unlimited.
GVTricks wrote:remember it is against MJ TOS to use an ATA, we all do take a chance.
Correction, people who use ATA's with magicJack take a chance. I don't own an ATA and I no longer use magicJack, so it's kind of moot from my perspective.
GVTricks wrote:There is people making Proxys that you can run on your router to make the click to call from GV without your computer running
Oh? Really? Google Voice offers a SIP host? Do tell...
GVTricks wrote:as far as Google I don't think they will worry about you breaking any TOS by using an ATA because they all ready offer the service from your computer.
See previous comment...
GVTricks wrote:They did stop SIP dialing from G5 but not because of the calls it was because the have a security issue with the spoofing so other people can go into your account and make call if they spoof your number.
Um, no. I am able to SIP dial through G5 and I spent about an hour today calling SIP's all over the world. It's fun, but it gets old fast.
GVTricks wrote:I think Google is here to stay for ever like your Gmail, and if G5 let us down again they will get another VOIP provider or even better they will buy G5.
You probably meant to say
...Google Voice is here to stay... and I certainly wouldn't disagree with that at all. As for how G5's interconnectivity with GV will play out, only time will tell...
GVTricks wrote:As you say GV is growing, but this litter kid is much bigger than any other so call VOIP providers'
Maybe, it's me. But, I don't see GV as a VoIP provider. GV is a follow-me service albeit on steroids. As I said in another post, I worked for a company many years ago that paid for this type of service. GV, of course, offers so much more. But, I wouldn't call it VoIP. It's more of a contact management center allowing users to give out one number (and use web-site widgets, which are just too damn neat!) and control how that one number reaches the user.
GVTricks wrote:And for that reason I wont hesitate to dump MJ.
LOL You're most certainly entitled. But, I don't see how the GV <—> G5 combination provides the same level of telephony service one has through magicJack presently when G5 is capping outbound calls through GV at 20 minutes. But, heck, to each his or her own...
