magic jack plus "beeps"

Post by alexis.marcil »

Well, my old mj worked flawlessly.

I have the mjplus for 1 weeks and have the beeping problems. It beeps on incoming call, but it's only the other person that can hear it.

I've chatted twice with consumer service and asked them to reset my dtsf sensitivity and it has done nothing...

I will try a few other thing but it is disappointing!

I have no experience with MJ+ but lowering the microphone volume through the softphone worked to reduce beeps on the former MJ.

I had the original MJ with some beeping issues, and I now been using the MJ+ for about 3 weeks and actually have heard the beep maybe twice. I will pay more attention especially asking people that call me to see if they hear any beeping, but so far all calls have been very clear.

+1 :)

The only beep we have had so far was when my wife was on a call made to a local land line number.

according to tech support, connect your MJ+ to a USB port on your computer and download the upgrade

http://upgrades.magicjack.com/upgrade/m ... kSetup.exe

that should fix the beeps. We'll see if it does or not.

I was wondering how the MJ+ was to be upgraded / bug fixed.

Cool I'll bite, Upgrade in progress !

EDIT: Lucky You Upgrade installed and the MJ+ is back in stand alone operation. any improvements noted will be forth coming.

Two calls no beeps on either end, call log on my Dish Network receiver now works properly. :D

Unless you are running on an Apple computer, you must download and run the upgrade.

Magicjack Plus Caller Id.

Post by Dgn2421 »

Used update for Magicjack Plus. Phones still showing wrong date & time on incoming calls. Set phones date and time manually but on incoming calls resets to Jan. 1 with wrong time.

Sorry it's not working for you, the update changed something as the caller ID history on my Dish network receiver is now working I must assume the time and date stamp information is now coming from the satellite.

I have another caller ID unit that needs a battery and reconnected to the phone line.

Just got off chat with cust support, and they said beeping problem may be caused by a firewall on my router. They sent this link:

http://portforward.com/english/routers/ ... icjack.htm

hopefully this works as my patience is running thin

Beeps and choppiness

Post by Billy Jack »

I have the MJP...I ran the update but it hasn't solved the beeping issue. I also have QoS on my router and gave VOIP priority and set it at highest over everything else...Still no joy...Anyone have any other ideas or am I at the mercy of the folks over at MJ... :(

Just got my MJ+ the other day and was so excited to have it. I've used the phone a couple of times today. The first call in the morning there was no beeping, but during my call during lunch it sounded like someone pressing a button on the phone. I'll have to try the fix here to see what happens. I really want to get rid of my phone service from Comcast!

Do you have any other services with comcast? I have phone and internet and we found out that if we canceled our phone our internet rate would go up, making savings minimal.

I'm paying $78.67 (taxes included) for internet and basic cable from Comcast. I bought my own cable modem w/c Comcast charged 2 or 5 dollars per month. My phone is free from Nettalk TK6000 first generation. Life is good...

A friend of mine has internet and basic cable and he's paying about $55. After dropping my phone service I'm going to ask for the package my friend has. Since my work pays $30 towards my internet service I'll only have to pay the balance. :)

I moved my MJ Plus about 4 feet from my modem and router and have not experienced any beeps since. If this continues working, my question is why didn't the people at MJ figure it out? Makes you wonder how they ever developed the product in the first place.

Moved the MJ+ device away from the wireless router not one single beep in over a month. :D

beeps are gone - got a longer cable

Post by sarge912 »

I had to move my MJ+ about 8 feet away from my wifi but the beeps seems to be gone now. They need to give a longer cable, the one they supply is too short.

Strange... My modem, airport extreme, and Magicjack Plus are all mere inches from each other and I don't get any beeping.
