mj+ cannot make outbound calls when plugged into the wall

Post by almadean37 »

my magic jack plus can make outbound calls when plugged onto my laptop but when plugged on the wall, it cannot. The phone has a dial tone but after dialing the number, nothing happens. My gateway is motorola which is wireless router and modem in one. Is it my modem/router blocking the outgoing calls? If it is, how do I fix this problem?

I dont own a Plus, but I "assume" one needs to provied the Plus dongle with power when it is not plugged into the USB port. From the pics I have seen the USB part of the plus dongle plugs into a wall adapter ( where the dongle gets it power from) and on the other side is the cat 5 connector and phone connector. So yes one has to plug it into the wall, via an adapter of course, to use it with the router.
Of course one CAN use a hammer when the MJ doesnt work, but I assume one can only do that one time :)
