Just got a Duo and the service seems really nice. I like the caller-id with name and number. Not having to run a pc all the time is great. Seems to be less problems with echo too.

I found out the problem was the fact that I have a 2.4ghz cordless phone and must have been on a close channel with the gateway. I changed the channel on the gateway and everything is fine.

So Joe you were right on with your suggestion.

Update:

I have just run a wire from the MJ to one phone only. The MJ is completely disconnected from the house wiring.

I just made a phone call and I still lost my internet connection. I have the AT&T wireless gateway.

Is there maybe some setting on the gateway I need to change.

Yeah you got that right. Never would have thought it would go bad. Maybe it was a loose connection.

But yes everything works great. Caller ID on phones and DirecTV boxes too.

I have Magicfeatures and installed the resistor a while back. Recently my caller ID quit working. Do you likely think I need to get a powered usb hub, or maybe replace the resistor? I had a DirecTV receiver plugged in and have removed that. I also have tried different USB ports on the back of the pc.

I have seen the same thing. It will show the City, State and the the number.

Maybe so.

I think if you save numbers to your contact list and put in a name it will show that on your caller id. Otherwise you have to get Magicfeatures.

I got the 7 number dial to work. The problem was that this program doesn't work well with the Magicblock program I was using.

I couldn't get a dial-tone on mine until I went back and did the vista upgrade on the customer care page.

It did. I understand now.

When I tried to remove the service it pops up a window that says the device is not ready. I had to remove the Magicjack and plug it back in to get the GUI to pop up.

It seems to work so far. Have not yet restarted the computer to see if it will run afterwards. Seems if you have an app like Magicfeatures you will no longer be able to use it. Also would be nice to be able to access the softphone if you needed to. Nice job though.

Luckily I was on the free trial of Magicfeatures so no harm so far. All I was really using it for was the 7 number dialing for local calls.
