It's all about controlling costs by reducing "Termination Fees". Fewer calls equal fewer fees.

This can be achieved by lowering call quality, and if that isn't enough, restrict call volume.

I hope this isn't the case with MJ, but it sure looks like it.

I believe that ATA is the same as an SPA2102. On mine I set the date and time on the "Adv, Voice, Regional" page and keep it current with a UPS supply. Caller ID works properly for me with this setup.

I used their service, RNK "Phone Number Bank" for about two months. My only complaint was that incoming calls took about 6 or 7 seconds longer before the first ring , as compared to a call directly to the number being forwarded to. Many callers would just hang up, thinking the call didn't go through.

You could get a RJ11 Phone AB 2 way switch box. Put your land line on one input, MJ on the other input. Put phone fax on output jack. Not a good idea to have a land line hooked up to the MJ. The ring voltage from an incoming call on the land line could damage the MJ.

You could try going into msconfig and select "Selective Startup". Go to "startup" tab and uncheck all boxes, reboot and see if that makes a difference.

OK kumar, this my take on the CID issue.

Ideally, from a DC standpoint, one would want a telephone device to look like an open circuit to the line. This would allow an infinite number of devices in parallel without swamping the line to the point of drawing dial tone...off hook condition. One would ...

Does it disconnect with nothing plugged into the mj phone jack? If it does, I would suspect a bad mj. If it does not disconnect, I would try adding one phone at a time and testing with each addition. If you have added the 100,000 ohm resistor, I would verify that it is the correct value. Too low a ...

It's the small, black thing at the bottom of pix, across the two pins of the RJ-11 connector. The ends have the fresh, sloppily soldered look.

It's not the conventional round resistor, but a SMD, or "surface mount device" type resistor. Takes up very little space.

Another way to add resistor. Don't sneeze before you solder the tiny surface mount resistor or you can be assured it will vanish from the face of the earth....snafu2

Use a phone cable with modular RJ-11 connectors (standard phone plug) and cut off a piece a few inches from one end. My observations. With one phone only, CID worked. As soon as I hooked up the whole house it would not. So I disconnected all house phones leaving just the one phone (located at the MJ) and the in-house wiring connected to MJ. Still no go.

I checked the wiring for resistance and foreign voltage and ...

Inbound CID ...Possible fix.

For what it's worth:

My situation may be unique, but most of the time my inbound CID would not display on my various phones (five mixed Uniden models) whole house setup, but did show correctly on the softphone.

I put a 100k ohm resister across the line and now all work great.
