It has to do with permissions and windows 7. I made a post about this so do a search and follow what I typed. It works for me and my phone book / log even came back.

I ran into the problem recently and this is what worked for me.

First, open up msconfig and uncheck the cdloader command.

Second, right mouse click on the magicjack icon on your desktop and select properties then click advanced under the "shortcut tab" then check run as administrator. Next click ...

One last quick note to the OP:

I got, shall we say, magic fever after thinking about my post on call quality and went proxy surfing by forcing my magicjack to accept a new proxy. I found that San Francisco and Nashville are still strong proxy's and call quality is at or near a real world land line ...

Ooma isn't bad apart from the the upfront cost but with having a cell phone I have found that my voip needs can be met with a pay as you go service for around $10 a month. I have to say though I have not heard a single bad thing about ooma ;).

Is there a thread on here listing the difference between the new version and old version? I never even knew there was more than one. Does the the new version have a hardware advantage over the old?

My dad lost his job about 2 weeks ago? He has been using the MJ for ~200 minutes a day with out a hitch. At least he isn't complaining.... The call Q in general is much better then it was last June (of 07) when MJ was like brand new....

depending on the length of the webinar you could be disconnected for hitting the limit on per call length which would really screw everything up for you. I hit the limit last week at an hour and a half. A day later it was 2 hours so just to be safe make sure the call will not be over 1 1/2 hours in ...

Just my 2 cents, with call quality dropping daily it could be a better solution to buy a pay as you go voip service where you can use an ata or softphone along with keeping cost low. It is the route I am taking after being an mj user for 10 months now.

I just spoke with a gentleman at ymax when I had serious problems with one proxy server. I highly doubt they are going anywhere. Ymax/magicjack also sells out voip services to businesses under different llc's so they are making a HUGE chunk of change each month outside magicjack. I firmly believe mj ...

Fix for jittery voice

Sure enough it is the darn proxy servers. Force a switch to another server and the jittery voice goes away. Edit your C:\windows\system32\drivers\etc\hosts file with notepad or word pad and ad the line below "localhost" (this should work on most of the east coast or further?).

127.0.0.1 localhost ...

I spent too many hours with support to diagnose and still nothing. I tried multiple machines with no success and some were multicore machines. DSL and Cable failing means it is not on my end.

One small note:

I diagnosed it to an overloaded proxy on mj's end. I am working on a script to block ...

After almost 1 year

After almost one year with magicjack I would like to give my 2 cents for anyone attempting to purchase:

first 3 months were GREAT with the device and I was even able to fax over broadband which made this a no brainer for the price.

I finally got greensboro as my local since that is where I am from. Had originally gotten a Las Vegas area code since there were no NC's available, then I switch to Raleigh a month ago for free and when I saw Greensboro come up this week I jumped to it once again for free. Thanks MAGICJACK!

easily possible, search google for "how to" run windows based apps in linux. You will probably have to inject the driver but if you know linux it shouldn't be that hard once acquired. Use the mac driver and change it as needed to work with linux.
