Years ago after getting rid of the telephone company service I powered up the house again with the original magic jack. That was when you had to put the 100k resistor across the line to get the caller ID to work properly. Since then I have moved into a different house after 22 years in the old one ...

When I got my MJ+ I went into its setup parameters which are available to MJ owners at the my.magicjack.com webpage. That is where you can control your MJ+. Once there I turned DHCP off and assigned the MJ+ device a permanent lan address in the 192.168.x.200+ range on my home lan that was up in the ...

"What do you all think?"

I think you knew all along that you were getting it for free, and I think you should pay for the year you ripped them off for as well as for this next year coming up. If I heard a whiney story like that I would just close the account on you for good. Maybe just buy a new ...

So I like to invent telco systems, dream about different ways to do things. After going cellphone after decades of being in the RCC field, I had this idea for a device that would use the cellphone to re-energize my landline system while I was at home, slip the cellphone into a docking station, and ...

I remember having this problem a good while back with a computer I was setting up, it used some AC 97 sound chip if I remember, and when using certain graphical intensive proggies the sound card would put out crackles and some burbling. I had used the drivers which came on the original mobo install ...

One thing that I have noticed is that since this latest MJ firmware 'upgrade' a few days ago, 2 cordless phones that I had previously tested with MJ and were found to be not compatible due to low DTMF dialing levels and wouldn't dial out, are now dialing out FINE, so that is one good thing the ...

That is weird. I got a 509 area code number no problem. Sure its from way up in Spokane some 120 miles to the north up in the cold country but at least it is an east side WA state number. You didn't see any 509 or 206 area codes available for you??

Is MJ doubling its price? Saw new MJ commercial

I'm not sure what is going on with MJ, but all along in their television advertising its always been something like "now you can have phone service for just $1.69 a month" and "only $19.95 per year"... you know the MJ commercials that I mean, they have been running on TV for months and months. Well ...

I discovered the same thing awhile ago when heating up the house phone wiring with MJ. I was obsessed about keeping the polarity right just for the fun of it. I noticed that my MJ was reversed polarity at its output jack. Not a problem really because ALL of those short modular phone jumper cables ...

Well my MJ is working great and I plan to renew forsure. My old landline was around 420 bucks a year not counting any LD. so this is a big savings at 20 bucks a year with free LD. It makes a nice companion to cellphones as it re-energized my house landline phones that I thought were history when I ...

nah, scratch that above post. stick with the resistor mod. as soon as I put a handset on the line (an electronic phone) with a line powered ringer the CID died again so I swaped the resistor mod back in and tried again and CID came back. so thats it. no further improvement trying any other kind of ...

A 5 color band resistor (precision) uses first 3 bands for value and 4th for multiplier and 5th for tolerance percentage. So, what would that make a 100k? Brown, Black, Black, Orange, Brown (if its 1 percent tolerance)

This mod restored the Caller ID to my new MajiJack. Thanks! I made one small mod to the mod however. To preserve the true spirit of the onhook offhook telco signalling which uses the presence of DC current flow in the balanced phoneline loop to signal offhook, I used a small non-polar electrolytic ...
