Perhaps they should work for that, They tell people that they won't work because they know they are DEFECTIVE! and they don't want people sending them back

You can not fax with a magic jack. You will be lucky if it makes a regular phone call. Don't try to update a cable box or tivo either.

Now to dial out I have to use the computer softphone. The dtmf tones do not break the dial tone. Once I push one button on the soft phone, then they work. Got on chat and guess what they told me? They told me to try a GE phone.

On the magic jack window, You need to click menu> advanced users> and make sure a check is by the item called "minimize to tray" They won't work unless you have it checked.
