I used wireshark for the first time the other day to see if anything made sense when the MJ was trying to register. From my novice eyes, I did notice that when it tries to register, it makes 2 attempts. The first time gives you a 400 error not authorized however the second attempt connects. I also ...

I'm in the process of wiresharking now from the windows PC - I still need to shark from my asterisk (linux) box, but I did notice a realm="stratus.com" in the authorization string. Changing my sipdomain or fromdomain in sip.conf to this had no effect, however.

I noticed the same thing. I also ...

Craig
Try going to your LINE 1 (Or Line 2 if that is where you configured your MJ) and change the Ring Waveform from Trapezoid to Sinusoid and see if that resolves your issue.

Re: MagicJack freezes when I pick up the phone

Hey everybody. I have not seen this issue. Here is what started happening to me about 2 months ago. When I pick up the phone it freezes the MagicJack for about 20-30 seconds. I cannot get a dial tone and the magicjack software is frozen where I cannot dial out on the software keypad. After the 20 ...

I added more memory to my computer. Now 4 GB. with 3.2GHZ processor. Hardly any programs. Give MJ priority. And what. Some calls break up. Now update.
This week I decided to pull up an old Pentium 3 with 128 mb ram and put a fresh install windows xp. Nothing else. Just MJ. Set it up with no monitor ...

Is there a way to get Caller ID to show on a phone I'm calling, i.e., my name and / or number? Also is there a way to have inbound numbers / name to show?

Thanks,

The answer to both questions is no. Currently. MJ does not allow you to specify in software your name for outbound CID. They ...

Hi Smee,

Excuse my ignorance, but what exactly is an ATA?

reddem0n,

ATA stands for analog telephony adapter such as Linksys PAP2 or Sipura SPA-3000. These devices usually have an ethernet port and an RJ11 port to plug in your phone. By using one, you don't need to have your PC on all the time ...

ISP= Internet Service Provider

If your ISP sucks so will your MJ.

Dial up won't work,Satellite won't work,ADSL won't work,etc.

Recommend cable 5MB or higher.fiber optic etc..

Do a VoIP speed test and see where the problem is.
