Do I need an MJ hardware refresh?
I purchased my MJ a couple of years ago and was pleased with it (even with the software instability, etc) but I did not renew my plan after the first year. It's been appr. 2 years since my MJ was active. I'd like to start using MJ again but I'm wondering if there's been a hardware refresh in the ...

We have the VTech ia5847 cordless phones. Caller ID works without the 100k resistor fix.
Caller ID for our DirectTV HR21-700 (HD DVR system) did not work without the 100k resistor fix.

Audio across remote connections like that is, at best, scratchy. Just try streaming a song or video through a Citrix connection. ;) As long as whatever you used to "remote control" the PC at home support audio mapping then it should work. Whatever you'd use would have to support all audio mapping ...

Just an FYI for those that believe MJ isn't listening to your reports. I don't work for MJ so I have no idea if they really are listening or not. However, coming from a tech background I do know that if you're developing a product for the masses (50k or so current customers I believe), and you're ...

Sure, it solves the incoming situation, but how about outgoing?
Have you tried the spoofer that's listed elsewhere? I use it and so far it works great. When I make a call from my home phone (a regular phone, not the MJ soft phone), caller ID shows my GC 405 area code. Granted it would be nice if ...

Re: MagicJack & VPN
Putty is good stuff. I use their SSH/Telnet client, especially now that it supports serial connections. WinSCP uses a GUI and is a little more user friendly than a CLI based utility.MagicJacked wrote:Nope, never heard of it. I use pscp on windows.

Re: MagicJack & VPN
No way I could do my job, but that did not seem to matter to them.
In many instances they (we) are only implementing what senior management asks for. Unfortunately the higher the security posture the more difficult it tends to be to get one's work done.

Re: MagicJack & VPN
One was the not nice type that prevented me from accessing my home network and the Internet.
Hi MagicJacked,
The not nice VPN was configured that way most likely for security. Being a networking person myself I get very concerned when a network I have no control over gains access to my network ...

Depending on what VPN you're using and what your company's policies are, it's highly unlikely you'll be able to make something like MJ work while connected to your VPN. To do so would require your VPN to be configured for something called split tunneling, a situation where you can still be connected ...

Zeico,
Most of the examples you gave were of issues with the website, not issues with the MJ itself. I suppose that's understandable since you've not received your MJ yet. Once you get it, and understand that it is in Beta and is only a tiny fraction of the cost of a regular phone line while it's ...

I don't know what MJ will charge for their pre-paid international minutes but there are international calling cards out there where you dial an 800 number, enter your pin, the dial the international number you want to call. My wife uses one to call her family in Korea. I think we get something like ...

I suppose if you're really not happy you can return it for a refund. As best I recall the shipping costs were only $7 or so, the $39.95 is supposed to be refundable.
