I wonder if your old MJ "breaks" and you purchase an MJ+ as a replacement, if one could push the issue on an account transfer to the new device (like they would do now for an MJ to MJ replacement).

I suppose it won't help if they reallly don't have the technical means to do so at the moment.

Actually, the MJ user can dial his GV number, then press 2 to initiate the call through GV to the destination number. (This works if the MJ number has been designated as one of his personal numbers in GV.)

i've had both the regular magic jack and nettalk, but even though i selected a 'local' number from the list of numbers offered to me within my area code, both companies require all ten digits to be dialed from local land-line phones. of course, if a neighbor or friend nearby wants to call me ...

I agree with one comment over there that debunks the technical "advantage" of the Plus over the Duo.

As the post says, it's called the "Duo," because it works via Ethernet or USB.

I've only submitted a few tickets over time of ownership.

Phone support, to me, is when you want to ask a quick question about a possible outage, or progress etc.



I have never really seen lack of telephone support to be that big a deal with MJ. They would probably work off the same scripts ...

I agree. Likely, the best one could hope for is the ability to purchase the Plus at full price and transfer remaining MJ subscription time over to the new unit.

Profit margins must be fairly tight, so it's understandable.

If she already registered the MJ at her house, then it should work automatically on your computer, once installed.

A couple of possibilities:

-Needs a US phone plugged in (or use headset on computer).

-VOIP (the special phone service used by Magic Jack) may be actively blocked by your internet ...

MJ requires only 10 digits for all US/Canada numbers.

You may dial a 1 if you like, but it is not necessary.

I started with MJ, and still use mine. It hasn't failed me. Added NetTalk and Ooma. For me, NetTALK is great. Mj is very good. Ooma is fine.

And what about more and more ISP's putting caps on their service?? This new device will eat up bandwith like candy and might cost one more in the end than normal cable..

How do you prevent the call from dropping syllables? It's not every other, but it makes it hard to understand what the person on the other end is saying.

It could be your internet connection, but more likely it is crap on your computer.

Run a scan using something like Spybot S&D to help clean up ...

Yes, if you know how to properly isolate your DSL pair, then pumping MJ through the house should work for most situations.

As long as you're aware of the potential reliability issues with VOIP and MJ, you should be able to get what you want.
