They forced the "upgrade" on me on Christmas day and everything is working a-OK just like it did b4 the "upgrade". Even the fax still works great.

This is a question from a totally non-coding type person,
but,
if one can find that code and open it in notepad++, could not one then edit it to make the call duration to something like 5 hrs ?

I don't use hibernate, but when I had my MJ on the main comp (XP Pro), I had not problems putting my comp in "sleep" mode. Not sure if your reference of stand-by is the same as sleep.

Did you try to plug MJ into a known working USB port?
Do you have available a powered USB hub?
Did you check in Device Manager to see if your USB ports are working? Any that show non-working, did you try to re-install it's driver?

When I had my MJ hooked to the main computer, I used to turn it off while at work.. No problems.
Voice mail will take all the calls while your MJ is off and they will be emailed to your email account you used at registration which can be changed to another email account at a later time.
