Mine runs on a dedicated Media Center PC. Occasionally, I will stop utorrrent seeding but otherwise it is problem-free. I call for PV MX to the US and Canada but I also used it on WiFi from Italy back to Vancouver in September.

I have used the AX522 switch since I bought the MJ. Works great. On outgoing, I enter #0 to select the other line (VOIP in our case). The main system is a Uniden base station with up to 10 handsets. I use 4.

Admittedly, there are many happy campers (mostly men) on here who don't mind the call caps. So, if you can live with someone else deciding your call limits, then magicJack may not be a bad solution. It's certainly less costly than Skype.

I had trouble with "Verified by Visa" when renewing earlier this month. But I switched to my Mastercard and managed to get through the BMO challenge screens to complete the one year renewal. I got no reminder either but just remembered the date of initiation.

I have been on MJ for a year. I use it for outgoing LD and inbound for voicemail. Because people never reach us live, it has remained a secondary service and we have maintained landlines in both our homes.

So I have these special procedures and
1) Kill does not work - still using c-a-d
2) Startup loads the original fake address book with test and 9999999999. Whereas plugging and unplugging loaded it no problem, But had some other serious problems...

How bad can I be?

Safe removal appiles to disk and other storage devices that operate on a memory cache, and the process forces the cache to be written to disk making it safe to remove without loss of data. Not required for the MJ.

Open AddressBook.xml in Notepad. Position the cursor after the <AddressBook> line. Type ctrl-v. Save file. Start MJ to see result. I have searched for AddressBook.xml and it cannot find it. What can I do?

So is the reason I want to shut down the MJ app so I can hibernate without unplugging? If so then how do I start it up without plugging?

Is there any place where all these tools are collected? I just got it yesterday and am on a steep learning curve for anything fancy.

Why not use a cordless phone system with a remote extension? Cheaper than MJ with no annual fees. We use Uniden that can have up to 10 handsets from Costco.

I got my email confirmation today and they added a second MJ c/w shipping and charged it all to my card already.

So far, interactions with them have been unproductive . Oh well I guess I can cancel the whole thing and get the charge reversed by my bank.
