The choppy connection is magicjack servers. I have had Majicjack for 8 months now and it comes and goes. I usually just tell the caller that I will return their call and then the line is crystal clear again. It sucks but it's a small price to pay for $20 service a year!

Reinstalling won't help you. It's MagicJack itself that causes the beeping. I have a computer dedicated to majicjack and the annoying beeping has happened since I got the thing. It's there software/hardware that's the problem...

Jax, when all else fails. Take a rj-45 cable straight from your pc to the modem. Hook up MJ and then test your problems. If it fixes the problem, start to add other components(e.g. router ect.). When I first got my MJ, I could not receive incoming calls from Verizon. I contacted tech support and a few weeks later it was fixed. You might want to find out what Service cannot go through and contact tech support and relay those numbers to them. Call your friends and see what carrier they use.

I have found that every once in a while I need to reset the magicjack. If I don't I get similar problem where it dials and then just nothing just a tone. By resetting the magicjack through the GUI software interface it works every time.

How to set priority in task manager(win xp):

I feel your pain. This happens to me every once and a while and all I do is reset the magicjack. No need to reset the pc. I don't think its a phone issue. I think theirs a bug in MJ hardware/software. I would suggest asking for a replacement.
