It's not a hijack. Makeforum.org is the hosting company that this forum uses. When there are problems (seems a lot lately), all you get is the hosts home page. This has been discussed before.

I get the "MagicFix is not supported on your computer at this time" message if I use FireFox. If I use IE, it runs fine. Sun says I have the latest version of Java. This is on the laptop where I run my MJ.

I created a batch file with two commands in it as follows:
tskill magicjack
tskill callerIDSpoof

Save the file as closemagicjack.bat and create a shortcut to it on your desktop.
Click on the shortcut and it closes both MagicJack and CallerIDSpoofer (if you use it) just as if you used Task Manager ...

That is perfectly normal. On WinXP, you should get:
1.) MAGICJACK (E) YMAX MagicJack USB Device (CDROM icon and shows up in DEVICE Manager as CDROM)

As I have stated in another post, my MJ calls use 83 kbps incoming and 75 kbps outgoing. This is the same on EVERY call I make. I monitor bandwidth with DuMeter, and I glance over at my laptop whenever I make a call.

Like any other USB device, it works on PFM (Pure F---ing Magic). That is the main problem with USB. When it works, it works great. When it doesn't work, there isn't much you can do except keep plugging it in and praying! Why do you think they call it "Plug-n-Pray"? :wink:

Excellent information. Have you run this test several times with the same basic results? This gives a good baseline.

I look over at the laptop running the MJ EVERY time I make a call, with the same results. Occasionally, I will get different graph on DuMeter, and those calls don't go through ...

According to DuMeter, my MJ calls use 83 kbps down and 75 kbps up. If you are short on bandwidth, your call quality will suffer.

I hear you ... it is not yet a "Landline" replacement but possibly a (US/Canada) "Long Distance" replacement.

That's the way I use mine. I'm required to have a POTS line in order to get ADSL. I stripped said line to bare minimums, and I use MJ fo my outgoing calls. So far it works very well ...

I can't call out either. Same symptoms; three (3) quick busies, then nothing. However, I CAN call my MJ number to check voicemail. MAYBE MJ didn't pay YMAX for PSTN connection! :D MAYBE YMAX didn't pay IT'S bills. :D
