. Also search this site and you will find a script called Kill (process) in this case MagicJack which effectively turns MJ off and will allow your computer to sleep, hibernate or just generally goof-off - whatever.....

Is the script any better than just hitting Ctrl/Alt/Delete and having the Task ...

Don't go by the towns listed for the area codes and exchanges on the MagicJack site; they can be WRONG! Google the area codes and exchanges for your area and verify them from a different source. MJ may not have an exchange that is local for you.

Many times the error message that one gets from a phone company does not reflect the actual problem. When the voicemail on MagicJack is down, which it frequently is, the call from the Verizon cellphone gets the "cannot be completed as dialed".. my guess is that it has something to do with the computer trying to go to sleep after a certain amount of time. With MJ, the computer has to be on 24/7 for the device to work continuously. Try going into the Control Panel -- Power Options and make sure it is set to never sleep or hibernate.

On my old VOIP service when I had a voicemail message a little light would flash on my phone and when I picked up the phone I would get a stuttering dialtone - I think that is call "message waiting".... how can I get that with MJ?

Just tried it by setting up call forwarding and with MJ turned off, the call goes straight to MJ voicemail. Not what I'd want. If MJ is off, I'd certainly want the call to be forwarded.

What about shutting MJ down with the Task Manager (Ctrl/Alt/Delete) and then restarting it with the Desktop icon?

In these times of constant problems and fixes, I'd do it at least once a week.
(But I only turn my MJ on when I want to use it, so effectively I do it daily).

Got it worked out; use Task Manager

First I tried unplugging the device while up and running. I was able to then hit the sleep button and the computer went into the sleep mode. When I "woke" it up, MJ was not running, and I clicked on the MJ desktop icon to start it.

I just tried the Menu, Advanced user, restart, and still no vmail light. Maybe the bulb is burned out. :)
